The drug business is dangerous and dirty. However, it is very profitable which is why despite the best efforts of the law enforcement agencies it is always up and running in many parts of America. There is so much money in it that all people especially the young and old are seduced by it. When a charismatic man or a group of motivated people get into it there is a lot of money to be made and then business booms. This is what happened when Big Meech decided to start a cocaine trafficking ring and built a whole organization to run it. He and his associates started it in Detroit, Michigan, and in a few years were operating successfully in many states in the USA. They were making huge profits and soon got on the radar of the law enforcement agencies who wanted to bring them down. At the centre of it all was the ring leader Big Meech running his sprawling drug empire with tact and acumen not to mention a whole lot of violence. Here are a few details from Big Meech’s wiki.
Who is Big Meech?
Born on June 21, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, Big Meech’s real name is Demetrius Edward Flenory. Along with his brother Terry “Southwest” Flenory, Big Meech started his drug trafficking career by selling $50 bags of cocaine on the backstreets of Detroit. They were still in high school and it was the 1980s. In 1989 they founded the organization to do it in an organized way and this came to be known as the “Black Mafia Family” or BMF. Now Big Meech had a good plan and he went about putting people and resources in place. By 2000 Big Meech had an established cocaine distribution network throughout the USA and had direct links with dreaded Mexican drug cartels. They had two main hubs in the USA with one for distribution in Atlanta, Georgia, and one for handling incoming shipments from Mexico in Los Angeles, California.
Trying to Go Legit
Later Big Meech got into the entertainment business by starting a company named BMF Entertainment. They also started a record label in the hip-hop music industry and promoted artists like Fabolous and Young Jeezy. However, BMF Entertainment was also a front to launder their drug money and an attempt to legitimize their drug empire. Big Meech and his brother started living extravagant lifestyles which were covered eagerly by the entertainment media. However, the DEA and other law enforcement agencies had been on the trail of Big Meech and were making hard efforts to bust this growing drug empire. In 2005 their efforts were rewarded and the Flenory brothers were busted and had to face the legal system.
Bad Guys Fall Hard
Big Meech was convicted and sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment by the courts. At the time of his arrest, Big Meech’s business empire had made more than $270.0 million in the course of their operations. Big Meech’s net worth was estimated to be around $100.0 million at the time of his arrest. He owned several houses in various cities, bulging bank accounts, expensive jewellery, and a fleet of expensive vehicles. People want to know how long Big Meech has been in jail and when does Big Meech come home. Big Meech has been in jail since 2007 and is currently serving a 30-year sentence in an Oregon prison. There has been some good news for him recently when a federal judge cut three years off from his sentence. Big Meech’s sentence reduction means that he will be able to get out of jail in 2028, a development that has brought joy to his fans and even admirers.
The Saga will be on TV Now
Big Meech’s age is now 52 years and while he was in jail he earned his GED, underwent drug treatment, and completed classes. All this made his lawyer tell the judge that Big Meech is making efforts towards rehabilitation and he should be shown leniency. That might have made the judge shave off some time from his sentence though the main reason was the changes in the sentencing guidelines since Big Meech was convicted. Not much is known about Big Meech’s wife but he does have a son named Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. The ironic thing is that Lil Meech is all set to play the role of his father in the under-production TV series Black Mafia Family being developed by the rapper 50 Cent for the Starz network. 50 Cent has always been an ardent admirer of Big Meech and spoke glowingly about his sentence reduction. So while Big Meech will still be in jail the world will see his rise and fall through the TV series due soon. The saga of the once-powerful Black Mafia Family will be beamed down into millions of American homes and the world will know how Big Meech built his enormous cocaine trafficking empire.
