Britney Spears

In 1999 teenager Britney Spears grabbed America’s and later the rest of the world’s attention when she wore a Catholic schoolgirl’s uniform and sang “Hit Me, Baby, One More Time.” While nobody who liked Britney Spears hit her [and a lot of guys and girls liked her], her life did hit her multiple times. Though she quickly became one of the most successful music artists in America and the world with her first two debut albums, life was not kind to Britney Spears. She came from a dysfunctional family and her parents Jamie Spears and Lynne Bridges had a troubled relationship right from the beginning of their marriage. They raised Britney and her two siblings in a strict Southern Baptist environment and Britney attended church regularly and sang in the church choir. She was a talented singer from childhood and while this ability made her a global superstar at a young age it was also her cross. When she grew up her life got even more complicated. After two failed marriages, a drug addiction problem, conflict with her parents, multiple run-ins with the paparazzi, religious misgivings and loss of her faith, and maintaining a tough career, Britney Spears has seen the very worst of life.

The Court Decided that Papa Knows Best!

When Britney’s personal and professional life spiralled out of control in the early and mid-2000s the law stepped in and took matters into their hands. There were accusations against Britney’s management team that they were indulging in financial irregularities while handling her estate and money. The court studied the matter and in 2008 appointed her father Jamie Spears as the “Conservator” of Britney’s estate so that he could manage all her financial affairs on her behalf. Even though Britney was 27 years old in 2008 she was in no condition to manage her finances and even her life. Her father was one of the few people she trusted and she agreed to let him handle all her business finances and her property. From that time Britney has been unable to make any personal and financial decisions in her life even though she had several relationships which all ultimately failed. All through these years Britney continued to make music, release albums, go on tours, make videos, and perform at music events and remained one of the best-selling pop musicians in the new millennium. However, she was always chafing at the fact that she was not allowed to take any decisions and had to depend on her father and other legal personnel to get things done.

The Law Decided that Britney at Age 39 Had Grown Up!

When Jamie Spears fell ill in 2019 Britney’s long-time care manager Jodi Montgomery took over as the conservator of Britney’s person in September 2019. This arrangement continued even though Britney started speaking against it publicly from early 2021 and said “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years, and it’s enough. It’s been a long time since I’ve owned my money. And it’s my wish and my dream for all of this to end without being tested.” She called for an end to all the legal restrictions she was under and she got a lot of support from the music and entertainment industry. Britney appointed her lawyer to argue her case in court and Jamie supported her and filed paperwork to end his role as her conservator. The court took in all the evidence and observed that Britney was much more mature and on November 12, 2021, the court declared that from now on Britney Spears was legally free from the conservatorship she had been under from 2008. The judge ruled on November 12, 2021, that the conservatorship of Britney was officially over and Britney has been celebrating ever since. Britney is now threatening to sue her family and is saying that she would like to share the whole story of the last 13 years with everyone instead of hiding it.

Britney is Very Joyous / Angry & Everybody Else is Happy for Her

Celebrities and well-wishers from the music and entertainment industry have been expressing their happiness and agreement with the court’s decision to end the conservatorship. Celebrities like Cher, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Luann de Lesseps, Andy Cohen, Mia Farrow, Jeff Timmons, Dionne Warwick, and Tara Reid have openly expressed their support and happiness at this development. They all have said that this is Britney’s freedom and everyone should celebrate it. They agree with Britney that she is free at last and now will have the deserved freedom to make all her decision on her own. Britney is now 39 years old and engaged to her long-time boyfriend Sam Asghari. She has two teenage sons and she is looking forward to a quiet family life with Asghari and her sons after all the tumult of the last two decades. She released her album Glory in 2016 and showed people why she was once called the “Princess of Pop.” Even now Britney Spears is one of the biggest pop artists in the world having sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. All the money she has earned [and it’s a huge fortune] is now solely in her hands and she will decide what to do with it. On November 12, 2021, Britney Spears got her freedom and her life back!
